Bhajan

A popular form of devotional singing in northern India, bhajans are often accompanied by percussion instruments like the tabla, dholak, or tambourine. Small cymbals called kartals are also commonly used to keep the beat.

Carnatic music

A small ensemble of musicians typically performs Carnatic music. The ensemble usually includes a vocalist, a violin, a mridangam, and a tambura. Other instruments that may be used include the ghatam, kanjira, morsing, venu flute, veena, and chitraveena.

Kirtan

A type of folk music based on the love stories of Krishna and Radha, kirtans are often sung by the Vaishnavas.
